Quinoa & Sprouted Black Bean Burgers with No Salt/No Oil Sweet Potato Fries / by lee tilghman

These burgers are so tasty, nutritious, and super easy to make. I sprouted my very first black beans this weekend, so I had a lot of leftover beans and wanted to put them to good use. 

Make these on a Sunday night so you have them all week for leftovers!


  • 1/2 cup cooked quinoa
  • 1/2 cup black beans (sprouted or from a can)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • dash salt
  • dash pepper
  • dash cumin
  • dash paprika
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

Combine all ingredients (except coconut oil) in a large bowl and mix with your hands. Roll mixture into small balls or burger shapes.

Heat 1 tbsp coconut oil on a pan over medium high heat. Place onto hot skillet and cook each side about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Flip and cook on both sides.

Eat burgers over salad, grains, or roll them into lettuce cups and add avocado, juicy tomato, cabbage, and scallions like I did!

No Salt/No Oil Rosemary Sweet Potato Fries


  • 1 sweet potato
  • sprig of rosemary
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

Heat over 425. Cut sweet potato into fry-shaped pieces. Toss in garlic and rosemary. Mix well.

Bake for 20 minutes or until tender and easily pierced with a fork. Turn broiler on HIGH and broil for 3 minutes. Watch carefully so they do not burn!
