Mean Green Matcha Smoothie Bowl

The good folks over at Matcha Bar in Williamsburg gave me a matcha packet to get creative with. The first thing I thought was: this is smoothie bowl material (as I do with most superfoods people kindly offer me!)

This was my first time trying matcha in a smoothie bowl, and I was a bit nervous on what flavors to combine it with. I always use bananas as a base, so that was a given. I decided to pair it with some mango (for tropical Goddess Vibes) and kale (for some extra vitamins, because #winter) and used a tsp of matcha powder. I knew the mango would help sweeten the base because matcha can come across as bitter at times. Bananas always add a lovely creamy texture for my smoothie bowls, and help the toppings to stay buoyant.

Base:

2 frozen organic bananas

1 cup almond milk

1 tsp matcha green tea (real)

1/2 cup mango

1 cup of tuscan kale

Blend until smooth, or desired consistency is reached.

For my toppings, I used anything (& everything) I had on hand.

clementines

blueberries

chocolate buckwheat “rawnola”

buckwheat groats

mulberries

chia seeds

sesame seeds

goji berries

hemp seeds

Enjoy!
